Welcome to Start a Business’s guide on how to reserve an entity name in the state of West Virginia. This state has an extremely streamlined and well designed online portal that unfortunately has not yet provided an online name reservation filing as of yet. They have instead provided a PDF to be completed, printed off and mailed to the Secretary of State with an attached check covering the $15 filing fee. A link for this PDF and a description of its contents has been provided in the tutorial below. When submitted, you will be given a window of 120 days in which your name will be secured.
Before filling out the PDF, it would be wise to check the availability of your entity name with the use of the Business Entity Search.
