This webpage has been created to guide filers through the process of requesting a Certificate of Status from the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. This document is often referred to as a certificate of good standing, though its purpose is the same regardless of the title; to prove an entity’s legitimacy to various financial institutions and the authorities of foreign jurisdictions. Filers will be able to make a request online and choose to receive a digital or printed copy. The fee for a request of this nature is $10 (additional charges added when ordering multiple printed copies).

How to Request (Electronic Copy)

Step 1- You will need to first access the business search function found on the Department of Financial Institution’s website. From there, supply your the business name into the entry field and click Search Records.

Step 2- A list of names will be displayed on the following page matching the contents of your search. Scroll through the names until you’ve landed on the entity you would like to request a certificate for. Click on the highlighted business name to proceed.

Step 3- On the following page, simply select the Request a Certificate of Status link out of the highlighted options available.

Step 4- Choose the first option titled Electronic for immediate printed of unlimited copies.

Step 5- The requisite information will be displayed on the following page. Verify that you have met all of the requirements before selecting Click here to start the certificate request.

Step 6- Supply your contact information into the entry fields and click Next Page.

Step 7- Verify that the information supplied was entered correctly before clicking Add To Cart.

Step 8- Click Proceed to Checkout after reviewing the $10 filing fee.

Step 9- Provide your credit card details and click Submit Payment to finalize your request.

How to Request (Printed Copy)

Step 1- Begin by accessing the search function found on the Department of Financial Institutions website. From there, supply your business name into the entry field and click Search Records.

Step 2- The entities that match the metrics of your search will be displayed on the following page. Scroll through the results and select the business that you would like to request a certificate for.

Step 3- A few highlighted options are available on this next page. Select the Request a Certificate of Status tab to proceed.

Step 4- Continue by choosing the second option on the next page, Printed and mailed or faxed to you or available for pick-up.

Step 5- A detailed description of the requisite information is displayed on the following page. Continue by clicking Start an order.

Step 6- Choose the type of copy you would like to receive by selecting one of the available options.

Step 7- Enter the name of the business into the topmost field. You will then need to specify the amount of copies you would like to purchase, provide your contact information and choose a delivery option. Click Next when everything has been supplied.

Step 8- Lastly, provide your credit card details and click Submit Payment to finalize your request.
