A Certificate of Existence is a document given by the Oregon Secretary of State signifying that an entity is in good standing. Essentially what this means is that if a business is in good standing, then it is currently up to date and valid, with all paperwork filed correctly and no debts owed or delinquent accounts active. In some cases, organizations may require a business to be in good standing in order for them to conduct certain business transactions between each other, (ex. a foreign entity requesting a bank loan in Oregon). For that reason and more, obtaining a Certificate of Existence is of great use to any entity. Requesting is quite simple and can be accomplished through the mail. You will begin by printing off the Request for Certificate application that we have supplied in the tutorial below. Once this document has been printed and completed correctly, it must then be mailed to the secretary of state. A filing fee will be required in the amount of $10, payable by most major credit cards. To find out more about the exact requirements necessary to make a request, scroll down to the tutorial just below.
