In the state of Ohio, the certificate used to prove that you are up to date with all filings, and that you are operating a legitimate and lawful company, is called the Certificate of Good Standing. This document can be purchased and obtained online without a registered account with the online business centre. You will be required to jump through the few hoops (detailed below), supply the $5 filing fee by credit card and simply download the PDF onto your computer. All this should take a matter of seconds. How to Request

Step 1- First, you will be required to navigate to this webpage on the Secretary of State online portal. Once there, click on the Obtain a Certificate of Good Standing link centered in the middle of your screen.


Step 2- The next page will display the website’s terms of use. You can choose to read them and then click either Yes if you agree or No if you’d like to return to the home page. To proceed, click the first option and proceed to the next step.


Step 3- Here, you will be able to supply your business’s name, your name and address, as well as your contact information. At the bottom, you will see your charter/registration number field. If you are unaware of this piece of information, you can click Search and perform a Business Entity Search. Click Perform Search once your identifier has been submitted.


Step 4- The following page will hopefully display the entity that is represented by the charter number you’ve submitted. If it is correct, click Yes-Proceed.


Step 5- Enter your billing information on this page, most of which will have already been supplied in the third step of this tutorial. You will however need to enter your credit card information to pay the $5 fee before clicking Submit. If all data was submitted correctly, you will be able to download your Certificate of Good Standing. That’s all there is too it!
