Reserving an entity name for 120 days in Montana, like many of the filings one can make in this state, requires the submission of a form by hand or through the mail to the Secretary of State. A name reservation is not required for the filing of any entity, however it might be useful if you have concerns about the ongoing availability of your desired operating name. The fee breakdown for a name reservation is as follows:

  • Standard Fee- $10
  • 24 Hour Expedited- $20
  • 1 Hour Expedited- $100

Before filing, we recommend performing a Business Entity Search to check the availability of your desired operating name.
