Tips

EIN– New LLCs may be required to apply Online or through the mail (Form SS-4) for an EIN, or Employer Identification Number, from the IRS. This number will allow your entity to hire employees, register for bank accounts, apply for loans, and perform a number of other transactions. For more information on EINs and how to acquire one please follow the link above and to the left.

Operating Agreement– Draft an operating agreement for your LLC today with the help of our free template (available in both PDF and MS Word formatting) located within the link at the heading of this paragraph. Operating agreements are not legally required in Montana, but we do recommend you draft them as internal documents to help keep your entity organized and running smoothly.

Renewal– You must renew your LLC in order to remain in good legal standing in Montana. You can renew online at this site by completing a short series of forms built into the portal. If you would like to generate a pre-filled renewal form you may do so at this site. The standard fee is $20, but beware: if your filing is submitted after 5 PM (MST) on April 15th the fee will rise to $35. Payments can be made by debit or credit card.
