A name reservation can be a very useful filing for those who would like to reserve the rights to their name prior to filing for formation/authority with the Secretary of State. Foreign and domestic businesses alike will be able to download the PDF file and utilize this function to prevent other businesses from registering using their desired company name for a period of 120 days. There is no online option for this filing and all applications will need to be sent in the mail to the office of the Secretary of State along with the filing fee of $15. We suggest performing a Business Entity Search before filing for a name reservation to ensure that the chosen designation has not already been registered by another entity in the state of Kentucky.
