Businesses wishing to preserve their corporate or LLC name in the state of Idaho will be able to do so through the application of a Name Reservation. Partnerships, at this time, do not have the ability to perform this function in this particular state. The action of reserving a name is especially useful for foreign entities who plan on doing business in Idaho and, before they file with the Secretary of State, would like to prevent another company from registering under their current title. Pursuant to Code 30-1-402 (2014), the period of reservation is 4 months and will cost the filing fee of $20 with an addition $20 for an expedited filing process.

We recommend using the Business Entity Search function before committing to a reservation in order to ensure that your proposed name is distinguishable from all other entities registered in Idaho. Filings for a name which is already registered will be rejected.
