If you intend to file a new entity in Iowa you may want to consider reserving an entity name. A name reservation is the only sure-fire way to guarantee the availability of a given entity name by the time of your initial filing. Name reservations last for 120 days and cost $10, a fee which can be paid either by credit card via the credit card payment authorization form or by check made out to the Secretary of State.

Before filing, we recommend performing a Business Entity Search to see if the business name you plan on using is indeed available for use in Iowa.
