This tutorial will briefly go over the process of performing a business entity search using the Delaware government website. This function is most often used to research the availability of an operating name prior to registration. Once registered, you will also be able to use this tool to gain access to your information and to research the business details of any entity on file with the Secretary of State. The Division of Corporations offers new business applicants the ability to search the database by name or by file number, a tutorial for both options has been provided just below.
Search by Name
Step 1 – What you first need to do is go to This Webpage. Enter the entity name into the appropriate field here and click Search.
Step 2 – Your search will now have delivered some results. If there are not entities currently using the name you have searched then you will informed as such (this will also enable you to ascertain whether or not your designation is available for use). To access the entity details, click on the name.
Step 3 – You will be able to review all the information pertaining to the entity in question that has been made available to the public by the Delaware Secretary of State. Additional information can be obtained for a fee of $10 or $20 depending on whether you want to review that status of the entity or the franchise tax assessment.
Search by File Number
Step 1 – Navigate first to this webpage and submit the file number of the entity you’d like to research. Click Search when ready.
Step 2 – Your search will most likely have only produced one result as there will only be one entity associated with the file number you used to conduct your query. Click on the entity name to access more details.
Step 3 – You will be able to review all information pertaining to the entity in questions that has been provided for free by the Secretary of State. Additional information can be obtained for a fee of $10 or $20 depending on whether you want to review that status of the entity or the franchise tax assessment.
