A corporation looking to expand into Arkansas from another state must first file a Certificate of Authority in accordance with § 4-27-1501. This process can either be done by navigating to the Secretary of State website and filing online or by downloading the PDF version of the form and filing through the mail. In both cases, the corporation must supply a certificate of good standing within 30 days of filing, or the Certified Copy of Amendment to have been filed in the state of formation within 60 days.

It is highly recommended, though not legally required, that filers perform a Business Entity Search prior to registration to check the availability of their desired operating name. It is also possible to reserve a business name for 120 days ($25).

Tips

Renewal– All non-profit corporations in Arkansas will be required to submit an annual report to the office of the Secretary of State in order to remain in good standing. This process can be accomplished online through the government website. Filers will need to use their filing # to access this feature (find your filing # with a business search). Once filed, you will have effectively updated the state with all changes to the business that may have occurred over the previous year.
