Start a foreign (out-of-state) corporation in the state of Alaska by using the online incorporating system or using the PDF application known as the Certificate of Authority (Form 08-414). The filing cost is $350 for profit corporations and $50 for non-profits. All payments can be made via credit card or check, depending on the method of application. The department estimates that all filings take approximately ten (10) to fifteen (15) business days in order to complete and have mailed back to the details located on the contact sheet (usually the last page).

Filing as a foreign entity means that you are filing to do business in Alaska from out-of-state. You must check to make sure that the business name you have has not been taken by another entity in this state. Therefore you must use the Business Entity Search to verify that your name does not have any matches. You may also reserve your business name for 120 days by filing a Name Reservation application ($25).
